Product Information
KE00769 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human Cortactin ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human Cortactin. The assay recognizes human Cortactin. An antibody specific for human Cortactin has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human Cortactin protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human Cortactin is added to detect the captured human Cortactin protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
Cortactin, encoded by CTTN gene (formerly EMS1), was originally identified as a substrate of the Src kinase. It is a cytoskeletal protein that interacts with F-actin and Arp2/3 complex and plays an important role in regulation of actin assembly and cytoskeleton dynamics. Overexpression of cortactin increases cell migration, and is thought to contribute to the invasive phenotype of breast cancer and several other tumors.
