Product Information

KE00900 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human Complement factor H/CFH ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human Complement factor H/CFH. The assay recognizes human Complement factor H/CFH. An antibody specific for human Complement factor H/CFH has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human Complement factor H/CFH protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human Complement factor H/CFH is added to detect the captured human Complement factor H/CFH protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

Complement factor H (CFH) is an abundant plasma glycoprotein that regulates the function of the alternative complement pathway in the fluid phase and on cellular surfaces. Factor H binds to C3b, accelerates the decay of the alternative pathway C3-convertase (C3bBb), and acts as a cofactor for the factor I-mediated proteolytic inactivation of C3b. It plays a critical role in the homeostasis of the complement system in plasma and in the protection of bystander host cells and tissues from damage by complement activation. Abnormalities in factor H have been associated with renal disease.
