KE00870 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human CHRNA3 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human CHRNA3. The assay recognizes human CHRNA3. An antibody specific for human CHRNA3 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human CHRNA3 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human CHRNA3 is added to detect the captured human CHRNA3 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
CHRNA3, also named as NACHRA3, LNCR2 and PAOD2, is neuronal type nAChR subunits. It is a member of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor family, which plays an important role in calcium regulation, neuronal development, and cognitive functions. Polymorphisms in this gene have been associated with an increased risk of smoking initiation and an increased susceptibility to lung cancer.
