Product Information
KE00589 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human CD99 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human CD99. The assay recognizes human CD99. An antibody specific for human CD99 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human CD99 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human CD99 is added to detect the captured human CD99 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
CD99 is a highly O-glycosylated type I transmembrane protein that is mainly expressed in cells of the hematopoietic system and at the intercellular borders of endothelial cells. CD99 is essential for transendothelial migration (TEM) of monocytes, neutrophils, and lymphocytes. It is frequently overexpressed in many types of tumors, particularly pediatric tumors including Ewing sarcoma and specific subtypes of leukemia. CD99 is also a novel marker of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) stem cells.
