Product Information
KE00881 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human CD89 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human CD89. The assay recognizes human CD89. An antibody specific for human CD89 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human CD89 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human CD89 is added to detect the captured human CD89 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
FcαRI (CD89) is a member of the Fc receptor immunoglobulin superfamily, constitutively expressed on cells of the myeloid lineage, like neutrophils, eosinophils, monocytes, macrophages, and platelets. CD89 expression and activation are increased in human blood phagocytes following bacterial infection, together with increased expression and association of FcRγ with CD89. CD89 binds both subclasses of IgA (IgA1 and IgA2) with moderate affinity, but also binds other molecules such as TfR1, C-reactive protein, and bacterial ligands. CD89 represents an effective target molecule for immunotherapy mediated by bispecific antibodies.
