Background

CD207 protein (also known as langerin protein) is encoded by the CD207 gene and is a type of C-type lectin receptor that is specifically expressed on the surface of LCs. It is one of the specific immunohistochemical markers of LCs. CD207 plays an important role in a series of non-classical antigen processing processes, such as forming Birbeck granules and processing and transporting them to local lymphoid tissue, and inducing LC maturation.
