Product Information
KE00961 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human CD164 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human CD164. The assay recognizes human CD164. An antibody specific for human CD164 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human CD164 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human CD164 is added to detect the captured human CD164 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
Sialomucins are a heterogeneous group of secreted or membrane-associated mucins that appear to play two key but opposing roles in vivo: first as cytoprotective or antiadhesive agents, and second as adhesion receptors. CD164 is a type I integral transmembrane sialomucin that functions as an adhesion receptor. It is known to function as a receptor that regulates stem cell localization to the bone marrow. Important role of CD164 in prostate cancer metastasis, promoting myogenesis and regulating myoblast migration so far been revealed.
