Background Information
OX40 (CD134) is a co-stimulatory receptor belonging to the TNF receptor family. It is expressed on activated CD4+ T cells and plays a crucial role in enhancing T cell proliferation, cytokine production, and survival. OX40 signaling leads to the activation of NF-κB and the upregulation of anti-apoptotic proteins such as Bcl-xL and Bcl-2. This receptor also promotes the differentiation of naive CD4+ T cells into high IL-4-producing effectors. OX40 ligand (OX40L) is expressed on antigen-presenting cells (APCs) such as activated B cells and dendritic cells. The interaction between OX40 and OX40L is critical for T cell activation and the regulation of immune responses.
