Product Information

KE00478 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human Beta galactosidase ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human Beta galactosidase. The assay recognizes human Beta galactosidase. An antibody specific for human Beta galactosidase has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human Beta galactosidase protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human Beta galactosidase is added to detect the captured human Beta galactosidase protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

β-Galactosidase (GLB1), also named ELNR1 or Lactase, is a type of glycoside hydrolase that is widely found in plants, animals, and microorganisms. It can catalyze the hydrolysis of β-galactoside compounds to generate monosaccharides and plays a crucial role in lactose metabolism. Additionally, it is extensively used in the study of cellular aging. For example, increased activity of SA-β-gal (senescence-associated β-galactosidase) can be used as a marker for senescent cells.
