Product Information
KE00923 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human BMPR2 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human BMPR2. The assay recognizes human BMPR2. An antibody specific for human BMPR2 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human BMPR2 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human BMPR2 is added to detect the captured human BMPR2 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
BMPR2 (bone morphogenetic protein receptor 2) is a member of the tumor growth factor-β receptor(TGF-βR) superfamily. BMP signaling through BMPR2 inhibits the proliferation and migration of smooth muscle and endothelial cells and prevents neointimal formation. Loss of function mutations of the Bone Morphogenetic Protein Receptor 2 (BMPR2) are the most common genetic factor in hereditary forms of PAH (Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension), suggesting that the BMPR2 pathway is fundamentally important in the pathogenesis. Moreover, the disruption of the BMPR2 signaling pathway causes an increased degree of inflammation and decreases the ability of the immune system to resolve it.
