Product Information

KE00940 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human ALDH1B1 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human ALDH1B1. The assay recognizes human ALDH1B1. An antibody specific for human ALDH1B1 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human ALDH1B1 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human ALDH1B1 is added to detect the captured human ALDH1B1 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

Aldehyde dehydrogenases (ALDHs) belong to a superfamily of NAD(P)+-dependent enzymes, which catalyze the oxidation of endogenous and exogenous aldehydes to their corresponding acids. ALDH1B1 is a mitochondrial ALDH that it is dramatically upregulated in human colonic adenocarcinoma, making it a potential biomarker for human colon cancer. ALDH1B1 is a homotetramer expressed in various adult and fetal human tissues including liver, testis, kidney, skeletal muscle, heart, placenta, brain and lung.
