Product Information
KE00787 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human AEG-1/MTDH ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human AEG-1/MTDH. The assay recognizes human AEG-1/MTDH. An antibody specific for human AEG-1/MTDH has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human AEG-1/MTDH protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human AEG-1/MTDH is added to detect the captured human AEG-1/MTDH protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
AEG-1, also known as MTDH, is a multifunctional protein that plays a significant role in various biological processes, particularly in cancer progression and metastasis. AEG-1 was initially identified as a gene upregulated in astrocytes in response to HIV-1 infection. It is involved in multiple cellular functions, including angiogenesis, cell proliferation, and resistance to apoptosis. AEG-1 is highly expressed in various cancers, such as melanoma, glioma, breast cancer, and hepatocellular carcinoma, where it promotes tumor progression and metastasis. Additionally, AEG-1 is associated with poor prognosis in cancer patients and has been identified as a potential therapeutic target.
