Product Information
KE00762 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human ACE ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human ACE. The assay recognizes human ACE. An antibody specific for human ACE has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human ACE protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human ACE is added to detect the captured human ACE protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) was initially discovered in 1953 during the study of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS). ACE plays a part in blood pressure regulation by converting angiotensin I to angiotensin II. ACE is upregulated in several diseases characterized by granulomas, including active sarcoidosis, histoplasmosis, leprosy, silicosis, granulomatosis with polyangiitis and the granulomatous reaction induced by murine schistosomiasis.
