Background Information

FAM86A is a class I lysine methyltransferase (KMT), belonging to the family of protein methyltransferases (KMTs), which produces trimethylation (K525me3) at the Lys525 site of eukaryotic translation elongation factor 2 (EEF2) and promotes the binding of eEF2 to ribosomes, thereby regulating the protein synthesis. (PMID: 38508183) FAM86A is expressed in a highly dependent manner in a variety of human cancer cell lines, suggesting that FAM86A may be a potential target for future anticancer therapy.
