Background Information
DjC8 (C8, a member of DNAJ heat shock protein family), also known as DNAJC8, which is a highly conserved protein, belonging to heat shock protein 40(HSP40) family. The protein is expressed in many cell types, including central nervous system macrophages, cerebellar inhibitory neurons, choroid plexus epithelial cells of ventricles, oligodendrocyte precursor cells and so on. In normal tissues, the expression level of DjC8 is relatively low, but it is high in some tissues such as testis, skeletal muscle and spleen. In hepatocellular carcinoma, the high expression of DjC8 is related to poor prognosis. Knocking down DjC8 can inhibit the proliferation, migration and invasion of hepatocellular carcinoma cells, and reduce the IC50 value of sorafenib, indicating that it may be a potential therapeutic target and prognostic marker for hepatocellular carcinoma. In addition, DjC8 is regulated by TIG1 in cervical cancer and participates in glycolysis. DjC8 contains a conserved J domain, which can interact with HSP70 and activate its ATPase activity, thus participating in the folding, unfolding, transport and degradation of protein. The molecular weight of DjC8 is 30 kDa.
