Background Information
DUSP14, also known as dual specificity phosphatase 14, is a member of the dual-specificity phosphatase (DUSP) family, which belongs to the type I cysteine-based protein-tyrosine phosphatase superfamily. The primary function of DUSP14 is the inactivation of mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs). It achieves this by dephosphorylating both the threonine and tyrosine residues within the conserved Thr-Xaa-Tyr motif found in the activation loop of its substrates. Beyond its role as a MAPK phosphatase, DUSP14 is known to directly interact with and dephosphorylate the TGF-beta-activated kinase 1 (TAK1)-binding protein 1 (TAB1) in T cells, which negatively regulates T-cell receptor signaling and immune responses
