Background Information
CHTF18 (Chromosome Transmission Fidelity Factor 18), also known as CTF18, operates primarily as a scaffolding and loading factor during the S phase of the cell cycle. CHTF18 is a core component of an alternative Replication Factor C (RFC) complex, which is essential for DNA replication, sister chromatid cohesion, and the DNA damage response. It is predominantly localized within the nucleus (nucleoplasm), anchoring directly to chromatin during DNA replication.
