Background Information
CD52 (Cluster of Differentiation 52), also known as the CAMPATH-1 antigen, is a small, heavily glycosylated protein found on the surface of various immune and reproductive cells, such as mature lymphocytes, natural killer cells (NK), eosinophils, neutrophils, monocytes/macrophages, and dendritic cells (DCs) (PMID: 16797237). CD52 is tethered to outer surface of cellular membrane by glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchor, and does not possess intracellular domains (PMID: 19236377, 28283679).
