Background Information
The FAM241A protein, also known as C4orf32, is a key regulatory factor that is localized to the Golgi apparatus. It plays an important role in maintaining the structural integrity of the Golgi apparatus and is involved in processes such as protein glycosylation and vesicle transport. More importantly, FAM241A has been identified as a novel negative regulator of the Hippo signaling pathway. It directly binds to and inhibits the activity of the core kinases MST1/2, thereby relieving the suppression of the downstream effectors YAP/TAZ, promoting cell proliferation, and inhibiting apoptosis. Aberrant function of FAM241A is closely related to the occurrence and development of various human diseases, especially tumors, making it a highly promising target for basic research and clinical translation.
