Background Information
C17orf75, also known as Njmu-R1, mainly localizes to cytoplasmic vesicles and the trans-Golgi network (TGN). This protein is a component of the WDR11 complex (the WDR11-FAM91A1-C17orf75 trimer) and cooperates with TBC1D23 to promote the Golgi capture and tethering of AP-1-derived vesicles. In cancer research, C17orf75 is significantly overexpressed in various malignant tumors, including hepatocellular carcinoma, and is associated with poor prognosis and advanced clinicopathological features. Knockdown of C17orf75 inhibits tumor cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, induces G2 phase arrest, and suppresses epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). This protein is an emerging molecule in studies of vesicular transport, tumor progression, and reproductive biology.
