Background Information
Akirin1 is a highly conserved ubiquitously expressed nuclear protein harboring a clear nuclear localization signal and the protein-protein interaction property. Acting as a cofactor, Akirin1 has been disclosed that regulate transcriptional activities by establishing a link between multiple transcription factors and chromatin remodeling complexes (PMID: 39188701) . Akirin1 has been shown to be involved in the induction of cardiac hypertrophy via miR-1 and serum response factor (SRF) in mice (PMID: 30746755).
