Background Information
USP48 (Ubiquitin Specific Peptidase 48) is a deubiquitinating enzyme and a member of the Ubiquitin Specific Protease (USP) family. This protein specifically recognizes and cleaves ubiquitin chains on substrate proteins, reversing the ubiquitination process, thereby regulating the stability, activity, and subcellular localization of target proteins. USP48 plays a key role in various cellular processes, including DNA damage repair, cell cycle regulation, and gene transcription. Studies have shown that USP48 is closely related to pathological processes such as cancer and neurodegenerative diseases, for example, by stabilizing transcription factors or signaling pathway proteins to influence tumor development.
