Product Information

KE20015 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The CXCL1 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous CXCL1. The assay recognizes rat CXCL1. An antibody specific for CXCL1 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The CXCL1 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another antibody of biotinylated specific for CXCL1 is added to detect the captured CXCL1 protein. For signal development, Streptavidin-HRP is added, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

CXC motif chemokine ligand 1 (CXCL1), a CXC chemokine, is also known as growth-regulated (or-related) oncogene-α (Gro-α) . Its most important property is to cause chemotaxis of immune cells, mainly neutrophils, and to a lesser extent CD14+ monocytes and basophils , but not T cells. The main receptor for CXCL1 is CXCR2, activated at concentrations of just a few nanomoles of CXCL1. Any inflammatory response is associated with an increase in the level of pro-inflammatory cytokines which induce an increase in CXCL1 expression.
