Product Information

KE00236 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The WISP-1 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous WISP-1. The assay recognizes human WISP-1. An antibody specific for WISP-1 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The WISP-1 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another antibody of biotinylated specific for human WISP-1 is added to detect the captured human WISP-1 protein. For signal development, Streptavidin-HRP is added, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

CCN4, also known as WISP-1, is a member of the WNT1 inducible signaling pathway protein (WISP) subfamily of the connective tissue growth factor/CCN family of matricellular proteins. CCN4 is both an intracellular and a secreted protein found in the extracellular matrix and is present throughout the body. Like many other matricellular proteins, CCN4 can also regulate cellular responses such as cell growth, differentiation and survival. Additionally, CCN4 plays a multiple physiologic roles in development and also participates in pathogenesis. CCN4 is associated with cancer and can serve as a biomarker or prognostic factor as well as a potential therapeutic target.
