Product Information

KE00256 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The CCL11 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous CCL11.The assay recognizes human CCL11. An antibody specific for CCL11 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The CCL11 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another antibody of biotinylated specific for human CCL11 is added to detect the captured human CCL11 protein. For signal development, Streptavidin-HRP is added, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

CCL11 (also known as eotaxin-1), a CC chemokine, is involved in the selective recruitment of eosinophils into inflammatory sites during allergic reactions, and this chemokine is extensively examined in asthma, allergic rhinitis and other eosinophil-related conditions. CCL-11 production is induced by T helper (Th)-2 cytokines, like IL-13 (Interleukin-13), IL-10 (Interleukin-10) and IL-4 (Interleukin-4). It is a product of eosinophils, B-cells, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, macrophages, chondrocytes and other cells. The main receptor for CCL11 is CCR3, but CCL11 also binds CCR2 and CCR5.
