Product Information

KE00112 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The Angiogenin ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous Angiogenin. The assay recognizes human Angiogenin. An antibody specific for Angiogenin has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The Angiogenin protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another antibody of biotinylated specific for Angiogenin is added to detect the captured Angiogenin protein. For signal development, Sterptravidin-HRP is added, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

Angiogenin (ANG), an angiogenic ribonuclease, is a member of the vertebrate-specific, secreted RNASE superfamily. Angiogenin, originally identified as a tumor angiogenic factor, was related with the growth and metastasis of numerous tumors. Angiogenin has been proposed as a permissive factor for angiogenesis induced by other angiogenic factors, including vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), basic fibroblast growth factor, acidic fibroblast growth factor, and epidermal growth factor. Angiogenin production and secretion may be stimulated by hypoxia. Increased angiogenin serum levels have been associated with the incidence and severity of several human tumors, including HCC.
